Hello to the pet people of Dronfield! It’s a huge, warm welcome from the veterinary team with a difference!

Here at The Vets @ Dronfield, with our decades of combined experience, we have the veterinary knowledge covered. We recognise that you, the pet owner, knows everything there is to know about your pet’s likes, dislikes, and little quirks. Experienced veterinary input, coupled with your involvement, really is a winning combination when it comes to providing the best tailored veterinary care.

Our whole team is on your pet’s side

No vet/owner team is complete without other support people; vets Dave and Cat know that our wonderful nursing team bring a different and highly valuable perspective to the veterinary care table, which we would be remiss not to celebrate and utilise. For this reason, our Registered Veterinary Nurses (RVNs), Sam and Katy, along with their more than 35 years of veterinary experience, are just as involved in patient treatment and care plans as our vets are.

More about our fantastic team!

Why not learn more about our team members, including their professional and personal interests? Please click here to do so, and you will see that collectively, we have a catalogue of special interests which contribute to the excellent standard of veterinary care which we provide.

Aging pets for example, are extremely well cared for at The Vets @ Dronfield, with vet Dave’s passion for geriatric health. Alongside RVN Sam’s penchant for pain management, our team can help pets live a happy, comfortable life with longevity.

Vet Cat has the internal medicine bases covered with her Certificate in Small Animal Medicine, strengthened by her keen interest in nutrition because, after all, we are what we eat, and pets are no different.

RNV Sarah gained a Certificate in Canine and Feline Veterinary Health and Nutrition, so she also has a wealth of knowledge to share on the subject of pet foods. Sarah has an ISFM Certificate in Feline Nursing, too, and particularly enjoys feline-friendly nursing.

RVN Katy brings a new and unusual twist to the table, through her interest in sports conditioning… for canines. To us, it makes sense that sport dogs should be considered athletes, and their musculoskeletal system, training and nutrition treated as such. If you and your dog enjoy flyball, agility, canicross or the like, Katy could be a key member of the team for you.

Nurse-lead clinics

Nurse-lead clinics are an important part of what we do, because they offer a highly cost-effective way for owners to obtain advice, information, and other services which in turn, can dramatically improve a pet’s quality of life. Please see here for more about the nurse clinics we run as well as our other services.

Stress-free vet visits

One of the central themes running through all of us here at The Vets, is the need to make pets (and their owners) comfortable whilst in our company. A number of the staff have undertaken additional learning in animal behaviour, and we take every opportunity to make cats, dogs, and other species feel at ease.

One way in which we achieve this is by dedicating a minimum of 20 minutes to each and every consultation. This is not something you see often in the vet industry, and yet we feel we gain so much more from each pet encounter by doing so. A calm approach, with ample time for examination and history taking is invaluable to ensure that each pet receives the most appropriate veterinary care.

Brand-new facilities

Not only does the quality of our team shine through at The Vets @ Dronfield, but so does that of our brand-new facilities. Our practice has been kitted out with amazing vet equipment to help us provide the great quality care pets deserve.

The surgical side of our veterinary service is fully catered for with excellent anaesthesia and operating equipment. Sam is keenly interested in anaesthesia, and brings up to date knowledge to the team through the continuous learning which registered nurses must complete. Coupled with our excellent monitoring machines, pets have eyes closely on them throughout any anaesthetic or sedation. Be it a routine op, or an emergency surgery, Dave and Cat are on hand to undertake these procedures with great skill and proficiency.

The speed and accuracy of our diagnoses is bolstered by the state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment we have invested in. Digital radiography provides timely, quality, and adjustable X-rays to observe bones and internal organs in good detail. High quality ultrasound gives us a clear, real-time view of organs, and laboratory equipment provides same-day blood, urine, and other results. Test results and imaging are only as useful as the individuals interpreting them, and this is where Dave and Cat’s combined 40+ years of experience comes into its own.

Outside our opening hours

As well as being passionate about pets and their people, we are also keen for our team to have a positive, fun and rewarding experience at work. We believe that they deserve a good work life balance which is turn benefits our patients too. We have subscribed to VidiVet, which is free of charge to our clients. This unlimited video vet service can be used during our downtime hours – In times of illness or emergency, owners can ask anything they like, as often as they like, with photos or videos as they see fit. VidiVet’s veterinary professionals will give their advice and opinion on whether you should see our out of hours provider, Springfield Vets, at their hospital in Rotherham. Alternatively, you are welcome to go straight to Springfield Vets and be seen by our trusted colleagues, who we know personally, as Dave worked at the hospital throughout 2024. See more about our out of hours provision here

From our team here at The Vets @ Dronfield, clients both two-legged and four, can expect a professional yet personable service, which is both effective and efficient. We can’t wait to meet you!
